I'm 41, and one of the original ravers (so to speak) and now, married with kids, tons of responsibility; it almost brought a tear to my eye to remember the good times. I liked the snippet, the fast paced mini-mix. Who ever got it together, have a big pat on the back. I especially liked the little Orbital Chimes bit that sort of came in but never actually did. I got quite a rush, picturing myself, mid-twenties, stood in front of the largest speaker system in the world, feeling the bass punish my chest cavity. Large. I find it hard to believe anyone would slate this piece of perfection. I can only conclude it’s because they haven’t the expertise to do it themselves.

This takes me back to when I first was learning 20 years ago, the eagerness to throw in the next tune outweighed by producing subtle, seamless mixing. Mostly, these records DO NOT and should not be placed together, vocals from different records, unless harmonising together and singing to each other, should not be overlayed. Some of the sound levels are off and some records end as if someone's taken the needle off or bumped into the CD deck.
Lads, take my advice and do not produce something like this for consumer consumption until your DJ style has matured and you've developed a defined style of mixing with a defined style of music.

We thought it was important to say that when we asked Jaymo and Andy George to make the mix, we asked them to keep tracks to no longer than 30 seconds per clip, ie. a minimix. This was to ensure that we could offer it up as a free download - we'd love to offer up longer versions of each track but owing to current restrictions this isn't possible.
thanks again and stay tuned to the blog for more entries over the Ibiza weekend including pictures and more exciting content from our weekend of shows.
